There is a common misconception that all products in oil form cause acne. Our body naturally produces its own oil (sebum), which helps the skin keep its moisture and protects it against foreign substances. Acne results from a combination of too much sebum with bacteria. Therefore, keeping your skin moisture levels balanced with an oil serum can prevent the skin from getting overly dry and producing too much sebum to compensate for dryness. While some forms of oils, such as occlusive oils (petrolatum, mineral oil and paraffin, for example) can potentially lead to breakouts due to pore congestion, the oils used in our formula have a low comedogenic index, are lightweight and fast-absorbing. In addition, some of them are antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, providing extra protection against breakouts. It is important to note, however, that every skin reacts differently to each product applied. An extra tip to prevent acne is to always double cleanse your skin at night and use a gentle exfoliator weekly to further encourage cell turnover.
